图书简介
Written by multiple authors, this is an excellent quick reference for practicing hematopathologists as well as surgical pathologists who sign out lymphomas in their practice. Even though there are many highly rated hematopathology books on the market, there was a need for an authoritative reference book dedicated to extranodal lymphomas. This book is definitely a refreshing addition to the hematopathology literature. Diagnosis of a lymphoma in an extranodal location can be a very challenging task, since many other conditions, benign and malignant, can mimic lymphoma. This book offers a systematic review, by anatomic location, of different lymphoma subtypes, both common and uncommon. Lymphomas in a certain anatomic location are further divided into primary and secondary ones. I find this approach to lymphomas to be innovative, interesting, and easy to follow, especially for surgical pathologists who deal with a wide spectrum of cases at different anatomic locations. The book follows the principles of WHO classification by describing the pertinent clinical, morphologic, immunophenotypic, and genetic features of each entity at a specific location. It also includes an extensive discussion of differential diagnosis, which I find especially useful. Plenty of well-organized tables either summarize the most pertinent features of an entity or provide a differential diagnosis. The full text is also available online. The images are representative and of excellent quality. This book is a must-have for practicing hematopathologists and hematopathology fellows. It will certainly find its place in departmental libraries, as well as on the shelves of practicing surgical pathologists.
