The 2nd Edition of Socratess book is an essential addition to most laboratories which use IR. The charts and tables are very comprehensive collections of IR and Raman data for a wide range of molecules, allowing easy identification of unknown compounds. This new edition is required to include molecules and compounds where data was until recently not available. These include large molecules such as polymers and biological molecules and also inorganic compounds such as minerals and glasses. For the first time, the book will also include Raman data, reflecting the explosion in Raman instrumentation in the past few years. A new edition of this book will ensure that Wiley remains one of the leading publishers of spectroscopy titles and will complement other titles in this area (including the Handbook of Vibrational Spectroscopy when it publishes). Bio-Rad, who have the electronic rights to the 2E, and sell the CD-ROM of the book with their Mentor software, are also interested in the electronic rights to the 3E. Bio-Rad have currently sold 140 copies of the software with their Mentor package.
