The original edition of the Encyclopedia of NMR included all modalities of Magnetic Resonance, especially NMR for physicists, chemists and biologists and MRI for clinicians. Both major applications of magnetic resonance have seen such a dramatic development since the end of the last century that it made sense to separate the two applications and create the Encyclopedia of NMR and the Encyclopedia of MRI. The former concentrates on the evaluation of structures and dynamics on atomic or molecular levels, the latter focusses on imaging technologies used by radiologists and clinicians.The Encyclopedia of NMR publishes as a 10-Volume-Set. IMPORTANTThis separation into two print products is not repeated on the online level. The online Encyclopedia of MR {httpWEBLinkbook/10.1002/9780470034590} includes all aspects of NMR and MRI and serves all communities, keeping those essential links between all the technologies and applications. The editorial and production teams are currently working on the general improvement of this key online MRW, making it easier for separate MRI and NMR access. There is not e-book/o-book edition of the Encyclopedia of NMR available!The Encyclopedia of NMR covers all relevant areas for NMR technologies and applications in physics, chemistry and biology. For the preparation of the nesuccessor to the Encyclopedia of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (1996)the Editors concentrated on new articles in new developing areas, such as protein structures, dynamics of molecular processes, characterization of materials, polymers and nano-materials, NMR crystallography, solid biological samples such as membranes just to mention a few new developments.All articles published in Encyclopedia of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (1996) were replaced by new articles, updated if necessary or deleted. Obviously, articles describing technologies and application which were developed before the Encyclopedia of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (1996) are reproduced without any changes. Overall, more than half of the articles have either been newly commissioned or they have been updated.The articles are presented in alphabetical order and a wide use of cross references makes it easy to find the appropriate information. For a tentative list of articles see the attached document. At the end of each article the reader will find a short biography of the contributing author(s), showing the link between the career and the expertise of the contributing scientists.In Volume # 10 the reader will find articles on the history of NMR (and MRI) and 80 articles of personal perspectives of the leading researches in the field of NMR. In order to avoid repetition, the personal perspectives published in the 1st Edition are not repeated in this new edition of the work. Instead, they are presented in a list of authors and titles and the perspectives can be accessed through the online edition.
