The book is conveniently organized and offers a fairly comprehensive review of orthopedic physical therapy. This edition has improved from previous editions as it adds informative chapters on foot orthotics and neural tissue disorders. The book also places a greater emphasis on postsurgical rehabilitation. It is a well illustrated, which is helpful in learning manual techniques. As was true in the previous editions, the coverage of SI and lumbar spine pathologies is the strength of the book. Although Barrow and McGee’s Practical Measurement and Assessment, 5th edition (Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2000) may be superior in covering evaluative skills, and Brotzman’s Clinical Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (Mosby, 1996) offers more extensive treatment protocols, this book is an excellent contemporary resource for the orthopedic clinician or aspiring student in a manual therapy course.
