In this book, information related to the technological advancements and applications for the nutritional improvements, disease resistance, abiotic stress tolerance and yield improvement in various agricultural and horticultural crops by utilizing the genome engineering tool kits will be covered. Their use in therapeutics and nutraceuticals enrichments, reducing post-harvest loss, and biosafety and regulatory mechanism of genome-edited crops will also be included. Advances in Genome Engineering in Plants and Applications will start with a look at the historical developments in genome engineering methods. Each advancement will then have a dedicated chapter and look at the development in the identification and availability of new Cas protein variants with a varied range of PAM specificity to engineer a diverse range of targets, base editing (CBE and ABE) technologies and prime editing without any stand break, and methods for multiplexing of gRNA for editing numerous targets at a time.
