The main aim of the book is to introduce a systematic approach to design controllers for power electronic converters and circuits. These days the use of power electronic is on the rise due to large scale uptake renewable energy resources. At the same time, there is a lack of understanding in the control philosophy that can lead to a stable operation of the converters. Thus, the main aim of the book is to form a bridge such that intelligent control mechanisms can be designed effectively. Undoubtedly, this is a very broad field. But the main focus of the book will be the applications of power electronics to (mostly) power distribution systems. The book is organized in two parts: Part 1 will cover the theoretical requirements such as advanced control theories and the analysis and conditioning of ac signals. These will then be used for the controller developments in Part 2. Part 2 will cover converter control.
