Each competency is specified across 5 proficiency levels from awareness: supervised practitioner, practitioner, lead practitioner, and expert. Each proficiency level includes numerous knowledge, skills, abilities, and behavior indicators that describe what an individual needs to know, be able to do, how to behave as a systems engineer. The book also provides a basis for developing training courses, education curricula, job advertisements, job descriptions, and job performance evaluation criteria.
