This is a significant revision to the existing, best-selling book and is necessary to bring it in line with the revisions to the standard BS7671: 2008 Amendment No.1, published in July 2011. The revision includes new chapters and content on: surge protective devices and their applications; electromagnetic compatibility; medical locations; and new special locations. It will also include a fairly extensive modification to existing chapters. In Chapter A BS 7671: 2008 the introduction and overview have been totally rewritten and modified with a new plan, layout and revised overview. The whole of Chapter B Legal Relationship and General Requirements of BS 7671: 2008 has been revised. Chapter C Circuitry and Related Parts of BS 7671: 2008 has new calculations examples throughout. There is significant additional text on harmonics, also in Appendix 4 of 7671 including voltage drop (amounting to around 30 to 50 pages). Chapter D Selection and Erection Equipment, includes a general revision with new sections on lighting etc, and a major new section on EMC (30 pages with examples). Chapter E Earthing and Bonding has been updated, and Chapter F Inspection, Testing and Certification, includes new information on earth electrode testing (around 15 pages), plus a whole new test on PIR testing and the new forms (40 pages). Eight new sub chapters are present in Chapter G Special Locations, compromising of 30 pages. The exact content cannot yet be established as it will be on items that are still being discussed at the committee of BS 7671.
