This book presents an up to date view of iron biogeochemistry in the ocean. It encompasses the description of iron speciation, the analytical methods used to measure the different iron forms in seawater and the different iron biogeochemical models. A broad vision of the iron cycling in the ocean is provided combining the descriptions of iron sources and of the processes that transport and transform iron in the ocean. This provides the observational and theoretical framework for the description of variety of iron biogeochemical models and for the understanding of the iron distributions and the interactions between iron and other biogeochemical cycles. The case of the coupling with the carbon cycle and the implication for climate are emphasized.
