Maturity of technologies in rare-earth-doped fibers, high power pump diodes and related components has led to rapid development of high powered fiber lasers. Fiber lasers have not only taken significant market share from conventional lasers but have also created many new applications. This book provides an introduction to fiber lasers for graduate students and engineers. It covers three main areas: optical fibers, fiber laser systems and fiber laser applications.
