图书简介
Foundations for Community Health Workers, Second Edition is a textbook for training community health workers, with an emphasis on social justice, cultural humility, and client- and community-centered practice. Written in an accessible and friendly style, the text covers fundamental topics in community health, health disparities, community organizing, communication skills, interviewing, home visits, advising and counseling, support groups, care coordination, and team management. As with the first edition, the second will be divided into three parts, specifically, introducing the role and history of community health work, skills and competencies for working with individual clients, and skills and competencies for group and community work. All chapters for the second edition will be revised and real-life case studies, references, and resources updated. New chapters and sections addressing core concepts and skills will be added on providing health education, chronic conditions management, promoting healthy exercise and nutrition, reducing emergency department visits, posttraumatic stress, working with youth, and health impacts of incarceration. New to this edition, a facilitators guide, including lesson plans, case studies, research assignments, short essays, exams with links to assessment rubrics, video tutorials, and suggested additional resources including professional articles, books, organizations and websites will be available for instructors and professionals. A test bank and lecture slides will also be available.
