It covers topics in ethics, epistemology, logic, metaphysics and philosophy of language, and fills an important gap in scholarship by providing a systematic attempt to deal with a vast group of underestimated philosophers and ancient traditions of thought, all originating from Socrates, yet all flourishing outside Athens.
