图书简介
With recent developments in computer science, we see the steady increase in the need for treatment masses increasingly important data. This requires techniques that go beyond superficial approaches to pattern recognition and necessitates the consideration of the semantic content of the data from which the need to use the techniques of Natural Language Processing (NLP). Seen from this point, the NLP seems a central discipline for future developments of IT. It thus appears today as a central discipline in the sciences and in general the information technology and not as a more or less important branch of artificial intelligence. From a theoretical standpoint, NLP offers a different perspective on the linguistic and cognitive investigation giving it a new dimension, that of testability. Indeed, many theoretical models in linguistics and cognitive science have been tested empirically using NLP applications. This book aims to develop a panoramic review of both classical and modern works in the field of NLP. It offers a unified view of fields often considered divergent such as speech processing, computational linguistics, natural language processing and knowledge engineering. He also wants to deeply interdisciplinary considering, as possible, equal linguistic and cognitive models, algorithms and computer applications. He thus expressed the opinion, repeatedly certified in NLP and elsewhere, that the best results can only be the fruit of marriage a good theory with a well-designed empirical approach. Our book is thus part of a dual perspective, that of the available teaching and the introduction of a state of the art of a domain wall certainly, but always changing. Therefore, it adopts an approach which is to make accessible language and computer concepts through carefully chosen examples. Moreover, although it seeks to give maximum details on the approaches presented, it nevertheless remains neutral with regard to implementation details to allow everyone a margin of freedom in relation following programming languages its personal preferences and objectives needs.
