The main objective of this book is to make the learning of the discrete wavelet transform (DWT) easy to understand. This transform is relatively new and it is widely used in signal and image processing applications. To facilitate a better and easier understanding for students with general engineering backgrounds, the author presents DWT in a unique signal processing approach, which is different from existing books in the field. The book explains the technique with a large number of examples and figures. Moreover, a number of MATLAB programs for the implementation of DWT with commonly used filters are provided, as a supplement on the accompanying website.
