图书简介
As the author Werner Kunz convincingly lays out in his new book, maintaining high biodiversity in Europe depends heavily on the existence on of open space which is not used for intensive modern agriculture. This is only possible through continued anthropogenic modification of the landscape, which should be considered when planning restoration measurements of protected areas. Removing human impact, as is often standard policy in particular in German speaking countries, will lead to a decrease in biodiversity. This misguided policy is rooted in a mystification of forests (in particular in Germany) and an un-reflected definition of what is considered "nature". Kunz questions the widely used strict opposition of "nature" versus "humans" which has more a religious than a scientific basis. A must-have for policy makers, environmentalists and ecologists.
