Theory and Practice of Aircraft Performance aims to provide close to industry standard computations and engineering approaches necessary for success working in industry. Both civil and military aircraft are studied. The book begins with fundamental aerodynamic and aircraft design considerations. In subsequent chapters, the equations of motion, drag estimation methods, and various aspects of engine performance considerations are presented. All segments of mission profile and overall mission performance (take-off and landing, cruise, range, etc) along with aircraft sizing and matching, and operating cost estimation methodology are treated extensively. Related topics on air data measuring instruments, systems and regulatory parameters are also included. Throughout the book, the importance of aircraft safety and environmental considerations are emphasised. Worked out examples of both civilian and military aircraft of the authors experiences dealing with aircraft performance analyses accompanied the related equations derived.Theory and Practice of Aircraft Performance is an introductory textbook for undergraduate but also extends to graduate students in aerospace engineering and is also a useful reference for industry practitioners.
